How the Bangkok Ambush Changes Everything
Tibu Campallo agrees to sell KMG because he wants Kameron to pursue a life beyond the shipping business. At a roadblock, gunmen ambush their car after police stop them. Tibu is mortally wounded and asks Cole Reed to protect his son. Cole traces one attacker to Jonathan Rogers, a former Marine and KMG crewman assigned to the Artemis. He also learns the police are involved, while the news falsely identifies him as Tibu’s killer. Kameron is left facing questions as Cole goes on the run.
Cole reaches the Artemis to find Rogers, but finds a bigger crime: Angie Ellis discovers dozens of dehydrated people, including an injured child, locked in a lower-hold container. Captain Marko Madsen and his crew try to conceal them, disable the lifeboats, and stop Angie and Cole. Cole sends a distress call; Angie tells the USS Hazard Perry that the captain is running a human-trafficking operation. The ensuing fight leaves Marko and all 20 of his crew dead, while Angie tells rescuers Cole was shot and went overboard. With no body, the Navy accepts that Cole was killed in action.
The Trafficking Plot and Cole’s Next Move
Cole survives and contacts Taran, who traces a number to Jaran Daniles, earlier identified as a Trans-Pacific Exports figure. At Tibu’s funeral, Kameron admits he let people use KMG ships to move “cargo” for money. He says he did not understand the operation until the requests became threats, and that he tried selling KMG to escape. Daniles explains why Tibu had to die: the company would pass to Kameron, whom the conspirators considered compromised and controllable, allowing the cargo business to continue.
That confession connects the ambush, the Artemis, and the human trafficking into one plan. Cole confronts Daniles and asks why Tibu was killed; Daniles confirms the scheme, and Cole answers, “Vengeance.” The episode resolves the immediate motive but leaves the larger fight open: Cole is alive and promises to come back, while Daniles’s fate, Kameron’s ability to expose the network, and the rescued passengers’ ultimate future are not shown. Angie remains with the ship and obtains Marko’s call log, but the episode does not show what she finds.
